Valentine's Day in Parnell
At Auckland Rose Park Hotel, we see Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate love and do something special, and luckily here in Parnell, the possibilities are endless.
There are two different camps when it comes to Valentine’s Day… Those who subscribe to the belief that Valentine’s Day is an attempt to fool consumers into spending, and those who see Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate love or friendship—and do something special to show their appreciation. At Auckland Rose Park Hotel we happen to subscribe to the latter—and not just because ‘rose’ is literally our middle name! But because we support any opportunity for people to get out and celebrate love. Here in Parnell, the opportunities for Valentine’s Day are endless, so here are some of our suggestions.
1. Enjoy a delicious meal
There’s no need to venture into the city to get a great meal… We have some of the best restaurants in Auckland here in Parnell that can offer you a memorable Valentine’s Day! Just a short stroll from our Parnell hotel is Rosie, a favourite among our staff and guests. While it’s not open for dinner on Valentine’s Day this year, you could sneak in your celebrations a couple of days early or book here for lunch instead. Otherwise, Italian establishment Non Solo is offering an incredible three-course menu for Valentine’s Day dinner, catering to vegetarians, pescatarians and omnivores alike. If Indonesian food is more your thing, Bandung will not disappoint. The food is fresh and tasty with incredible service to boot. And if you’ve not yet visited Gerome, it’s worth looking into a Valentine’s Day dinner booking here. The four-course Valentine’s Day set menu is just $75 and the restaurant is simply stunning.
2. Grab a cheeky beverage
As lovely as it is to have a romantic dinner, sometimes work, traffic, family and other life commitments mean you just can’t spare a few hours out. If this is the case, a casual drink during Valentine’s week could be just the answer! You’ll still get some alone time with your significant other but you can be flexible about when you go. And we have the perfect place in mind… Pineapple on Parnell. Just a 15-minute stroll from our Parnell hotel, Pineapple is a beautiful and intimate spot where the cocktails taste just as amazing as they look. Decorated extravagantly in speakeasy style, the venue even has a live pianist play every Thursday night. The barmen are dressed immaculately in waistcoats and bow ties, making a drink here feel like an ‘occasion’ rather than just an afterthought. The perfect place for a Valentine’s celebration in style.
3. Treat yourselves to a delectable dessert
Unsurprisingly, Chocolate Boutique does a roaring trade on and around Valentine’s Day. Not just a café but a retail shop too, the boutique sells gorgeous chocolate gift hampers and baskets, individual bars and boxes, sour lollies, herbal teas, fudge and gift vouchers too! If you can’t find a present for a loved one here, you’re officially doing Valentine’s Day wrong! The café is open until 9:50pm each evening, so if you have the opportunity to sneak out for a romantic dessert, try your luck here! They don’t take evening bookings but if you must wait for a short time, you’ll be rewarded with a menu full of hot chocolates, cheesecakes, desserts, waffles and every other sweet treat under the sun. For a bit of extra romance, indulge in one of the shared desserts like the chocolate fondue… Valentine’s Day is certainly the occasion to go all out!
4. Date night at the movies
When was the last time you caught a good movie? Few things say ‘date night’ more than an evening at the cinema, especially if you’re happy to splurge a little! Some moviegoers will be excited to hear that Titanic is coming back to the big screen—and just in time for Valentine’s Day. The romantic yet action packed film has been remastered in 3D and is being shown at Event Cinemas from 9th February… Grab those gold class tickets now to lock in your Valentine’s date night! And if you want an even more lavish experience, book a film at Silky Otter cinemas in Orakei Bay or Ponsonby instead. The boutique cinemas offer incredible food and wine, delivered you in the comfort of your cushy leather recliner.
